The Lusitania was a British passenger ship that was sunk by a German submarine in 1914. Out of 2000 passangers, 1200 were lost including 200 Americans. This was one of the reasons the United States, who remained neutral in World War I decided to enter the war. This act was regarded by the world community as being one of the most tragic events of the War. Because of this, the Kaiser changed the "Rules of Engagement" for German submarines to exclude passenger ships

They were successful in sinking five Battleships and numerous other ships as well as most of the US aircraft on the island. However, out of the five ships sunk, four were raised and three were refitted and joined the War in the Pacific. The USS Oklahoma was lost at sea while being towed back to the US for retrofitting.
